The U.S. Census Bureau witnessed a shift in the number of seats allocated to each state in the U.S. House of Representatives based on the updated population data. According to the Bureau, the state of Texas will gain two seats (maximum number of seats gained), whereas Florida, Colorado, Oregon, North Carolina, and Montana will gain one seat each.
On the other hand, seven states, including California, Ohio, Michigan, New York, Illinois, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, will lose one seat each from the U.S. House of Representatives. Experts claim that if New York could account for 89 additional people in the census data, it would not have lost a seat in the chamber.
Some media members are questioning the researchers while demanding a reason for the unexpected results of the census data of 2020 as it did not match the population estimates.
