Steve Bannon, the former White House chief strategist for President Trump, called former Vice President Mike Pence a āstone-cold cowardā for failing democracy and not disputing the results of the election, saying he will ācarry this to his grave.ā
Bannonās strong comments came after a week of escalating comments. It began when former President Donald Trump, issued a statement on Jan 30, suggesting Pence had āthe right to change the outcome [of the election].ā
āIf the Vice President (Mike Pence) had āabsolutely no rightā to change the Presidential Election results in the Senate, despite fraud and many other irregularities, how come the Democrats and RINO Republicans, like Wacky Susan Collins, are desperately trying to pass legislation to not allow the Vice President to change the results of the election?ā
Pence responded during a Friday speech in Florida by saying, āThere are those in our party who believe that as the presiding officer over the joint session of Congress that I possessed unilateral authority to reject electoral college votes. And I heard this week, that President Trump said I had the right to overturn the election. President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the electionā.
Trump responded on his Save America Platform:
Bannon picked up the conversation baton during his Saturday War Room broadcast, saying, āThatās not what President Trump saidā¦[Pence] had the full right to revert [election results] back to the states.ā
Bannon supported his assertion by stating:
āā¦ The president pro temp sent you a letter and requested that you send [election results] back to the state legislators so they could review the process of how they certified the Biden electors.ā
Bannon rebuked the former Vice President saying, āPence, youāre gonna carry this thing, eventually to your grave. ā¦ Because it is a mark of shame, and you are a cold stone coward. A stone-cold coward.ā

Bannon also said: āMy head is blowing up. I canāt take Pence. I canāt take Pence and Marc Short and these Koch guys up there, ratting out Trump up on Capitol Hill right now.ā
Real Clear Politics reports āSen. Susan Collins is working with Sen. Joe Manchin on a bipartisan reform of the 1887 Electoral Count Act to clarify the role of the vice president in counting the votes of the Electoral College and handling challenges to presidential elections.ā
Trump asserts that the current review of the 1887 Electoral Count Act is an acknowledgment that Vice President Pence had the authority to stop the election process from moving forwardā
āActually what theyāre saying, is that Mike Pence did have the right to change the outcome, and now they want to take that right away. Unfortunately, he didnāt exercise that power, he could have overturned the Election!ā
